To name just a few nostalgic toys, the first I think of is an electric train. I believe every child back in time desired an electric train. It was great fun to put together each piece of the track and then hook the railroad cars to the engine. Parents would not only enjoy seeing the kids play, but often would join the play as well. Electric trains may not be as popular today, but kids still will spend hours racing the engine and cars around the track.
Two toys that have been around for generations are the wagon and tricycle. These toys are loads of fun for any kid 18 months or older. Millions of wagons and tricycles have invaded our homes and used by kids for all kinds of pretend play. Eventually kids grow out of the wagon, tricycle age into a bicycle. There are not many kids that do not have a bicycle. Bicycles are not just for kids for in many countries they are a major means of transportation.
Lincoln Logs and Legos have retained their popularity through the years. Kids love building a project and then destroying it. Lincoln Logs and Legos will always be an appreciated gift for kids. Legos are probably more popular now than Lincoln Logs and are growing in popularity.
Barbie is the dream gift of practically every girl. Girls receive pleasure in dressing and putting on makeup. Barbie coupled with a dollhouse gives many days and hours of pretend play.
Boys have enjoyed Hot Wheels for years. Hot Wheels tracks once graced our house as the track ran from one room to the other. Many races were won and lost on those tracks. Hot Wheels will not likely ever go out of style as kids will enjoy them for years to come.
In this new generation, toys are gender-less, which means today girls also play with hot wheels and boys also play with Barbie dolls. The stereotype has taken a step back that only boys will play with cars and girls will play with Barbie dolls.
Board games such as checkers, and Monopoly have been around for ages and yet their popularity seems to grow with the ages. I doubt there is a person reading this that has not played these two games. Monopoly is a game that just keeps growing and new editions continue to be introduced. The wonderful thing about these games is they can be played by all ages. Kids and adults alike love them.
Outdoor games such as horseshoes, badminton, volley ball, and croquet are always great fun. Swings will never go out of style, whether an expensive swing set or a rope swing hanging from a tree limb.
These are just a few of the many nostalgic toys that will always be enjoyed by kids. Visit us at babytoystop.com
